NewRiver Adoption Process

Once you have made contact with NewRiver, we will respond via email or a phone call. After that initial contact, we will ask you to complete the following:

We will request that you fill out the application. We will review it and contact you within 24-48 hours. We may have a couple of extra questions for you and you for us. Most importantly, we will review your requirements including the time period which you can expect your new family member.
Once your application is approved, and you would like to move forward with NewRiver, you will be required to provide a deposit. Your deposit will guarantee a spot on the adoption list.
If possible, we encourage our families to visit us to meet us and the dogs. We appreciate that visits aren't always possible due to distance, however Facetime calls are the next best alternative. Several calls will take place prior to the date you pick up your puppy. Please be advised - we do not ship puppies. Our families are required to accompany the puppy on all flights or land transport.

The Eight Week Journey

After committed to a spot on the litter list, the journey begins!

Once the puppies are born, you will be emailed with pictures of the litter. Each picture will include the weight, sex, coat type, colour and their given name which is based on the “Theme” of the litter.

Updates are sent out weekly so you can see them grow and change. Additional Videos and pictures will also be available to see on our facebook group. You will be asked to join the Facebook group so you can stay up-to-date and you can watch the puppies grow.

We will invite our families to visit the pups after they are 4 weeks of age to allow you to interact and see the pups in action! At 7 weeks they are temperament tested (Volhard Temperament Test). Just before the pups leave at 8 weeks (after vaccines, check up, microchip) we will bath and groom them before they begin their life adventure with you. You will also be provided with a Puppy Welcome package that provides information on topics such as feeding and nutrition, house training, crate training, grooming, socialization and much more.
